Stainless steel is a steel alloy that must contain a minimum of 10.5% chromium and contains levels of nickel, molybdenum, and niobium.
Compared to regular steel, stainless steel does not easily corrode, stain, or oxidize/rust.
304 /304 L is a versatile general purpose stainless steel product with good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, many organic and inorganic chemicals, and to food and beverages. 304 has .04 or higher carbon content; 304L has .03 max carbon and is often used when end product requires welding.
316 / 316 is an austenitic stainless steel containing molybdenum intended to provide improved corrosion resistance.
